I would like to think that I am like most mothers. I run around attempting to get as many things done that I can for one day and by crossing off all the things that I wish to accomplish that I have in fact succeeded.
The fact is that my schedule can be pack full of a lot of things that cause me to be much busier than any other woman should actually be.
The problem with this mindset is that my children begin to only see me from a distance and they only see me as the person too busy to make memories with them.
I don’t think this is the way any mother wants to be remembered.
As a matter of fact, the slight notion of this makes me sad.
Therefore, I decided that in my home this had to change by looking at my schedule and surveying our home. I have found that if we are really honest somethings on our daily list really do not have to be done and other things really do not matter when it comes to the grand scheme of life.
In 2016, I encourage you to also take a look at your schedule. Evaluate what truly has to be done and to cut out those things that don’t have to be done.
Dare to step back from time suckers such as social media, that cause us guilt when we see pictures of picture perfect homes and DIY queens that cause us normal moms. Replace these things with simple memory building moments.
Things that Must be Added to Your Schedule:
- Read a book with your little ones and not just at bedtime.
- Curl up and watch a movie from your childhood with your children.
- Dual each other in an exciting board game.
- Make a mess in the kitchen together and create something amazing.
- Instead of just sending your kids outside to play, join them on the adventure.
- Allow yourself moments to relax in silence after the children go to bed without worrying about everything that is left on your list.
These things are more important than having every article of clothing clean in your home every single night, they serve far more nurturing value than making sure every single thing on the dinner table is homemade and they will be remembered far more than how many tasks you were able to be completed in one single day.
I would love to know changes that you are making in 2016 to help you rock motherhood in 2016.
