Recently the kids and I were able to go through the book of Exodus and learn about Moses.
I am sure you are wondering why I think that is blog post worthy, right? Well, let me tell you about this wonderful curriculum we used! We had the pleasure of using Grapevine Studies. It is a wonderful program that teaches Bible lessons in a very unique way. Your children are walked through the study piece-by-piece while stick figuring the story.
We received the digital version of the teachers book and the student book – level 2. I printed each of my children a copy of the student text and put it in a binder. I kept the teachers book on my computer. Having it on my computer is easier for me because I can bring it up during lessons and read it directly from there without printing. I can even zoom in on different images to help the children see the page better. It works for us!
We start out by working through the timeline. It gives a brief overview of the story and what you will be going over. It is a great introduction to the study. Then we follow each day doing 1 lesson per day. It generally takes between 15 – 25 minutes depending on how detailed the children get. Often times they go overboard and their stick figures turn into works of art. I don’t mind! It is what brings these wonderful lessons to life. At the end of each lesson there are review questions and timeline review.
About Grapevine Studies Moses and the Exodus:
Moses and the Exodus is a 13 week study with 46 daily lessons. You follow Moses from birth all the way through his journey leaving Goshen, taking a wife, the plagues, and the exodus of Egypt. As you walk through the study you learn how God used Moses as a tool to show Himself to multitudes of people.
You can choose your version of the students books. One has traceable figures that are perfect for younger or challenged learners. The other has empty boxes allowing more creativity from the student and much less direction. These include lessons pages, timelines, map, memory verses, and reviews. 54 pages in length. You can order these printed or in eBook form.
The teachers version includes lesson notes, timelines, stick figure drawings, map, lesson goals & key points, memory verses, and review questions & answers. 78 pages. I keep this on my PC and then pull up the PDF file each time we start our lesson. This way I can zoom in on each of the illustrations so my children can see details and not my poor excuse of drawings!!
My Thoughts on Grapevine Studies Moses and the Exodus:
We love GrapeVine studies. You can use them as an entire Bible study for the school year. You can use them to supplement what you are learning. They can be used as a fun break from your current studies. The lessons are not long – less than 20 minutes typically. They are engaging and have an art element attached. They are super easy to teach as it is all laid out in front of you. You will need extra supplies for this study. I will list them below, but the cost is minimal. I feel that my children retain more information doing studies that are hands on, such as this, than with just being read to. For us I give this 5 stars!!

I’d like to try the Birth of Jesus study. I think it would be the easiest for both teacher and student to start on ! 🙂
I’d be interested in the OT prophets.
I would choose biblical feasts and holy days
I’d like the birth of Jesus study, will be great to keep focus on the true reason for the season!
