I sat down to create a quick printable pack for a blog I contribute to. Little did I know that God had other plans for me. Once I got started I hit a road block. I asked a friend to help me out and the direction she sent me made me do a 180 and create something completely different than anything I have ever created before.
More Than Words: Using words to dig deeper into The Word.
This devotional is meant to be quick and easy to go through. It is designed to be unlike other devotionals, in that you are not given specific scripture to study. Instead, you find scripture that aligns with the word you choose for the day.
To use this devotional:
You do not have to use the words in the order they appear in this book. In fact, I encourage you to chose the order of words carefully and prayerfully. Once you have your words in the order that makes sense to you, you can bind them in a binder with a binding machine, put them in a folder, leave them lose, or staple them together. There is no “right way”.
To dig into the study, you will want to decide how you want to define the words. You can use a dictionary or an online bible concordance. I often use Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by BibleStudyTools.com. Either one is fine. What is important, is that you have a way to define the words in this study.
After defining your word for the day, you will need to find the word in the Bible as it applies to your study. Write the scripture down and work on memorizing it. There are many ways that you can work on memorization. Repetition – I find writing things more than three times helps me. Omition – removing a few words at a time while repeating the verse. Do what works for you.
Next, you are prompted to write about how you will apply the verse and the word to your life. This is very personal. It can be short or long. It all depends on where you are and what God lays on your heart.
The final step is to pray over your word for the day. I have created a page for you to write your prayer. I find that I like going back and reading my prayers to see where I was at a certain point in life.
I have also included a blank page at the end of the word study for you to use should you need extra space to write. This has been the most requested change from the first book More than Words.
My prayer is that this devotional will be a blessing for you and your personal walk with the Lord. Make this your own. Adapt it to your life and to suit your needs. Be on the look out for more volumes!
