I go to bed defeated again. My to do list is too long, and there are not enough hours in the day. I failed. Again. There were still crumbs on the floor, and laundry in baskets. I had yelled at the kids, and didn’t get to that book I promised to read the boy. I feel like no matter what I do, it’s never enough…. I ask myself, “Why do I keep Failing?”
Then, I am reminded of this quote by Trace Adkins in the movie, “Mom’s Night Out”
Ya’ll spend so much time beating yourselves up. I doubt the good Lord made a mistake giving your kiddos the mom he did.” “
And you know what? We do!! But why?
Because we live in this Pinterest perfect world that tells us we have to do xyz to be a good mom. It tells us that we need to have it together all the time, and if we do, our homes and kids will show it.
Moms, listen when I tell you, that no one has it all together. No one has a perfect home, marriage or kids. And if they tell you that they do, you may want to get new friends…
But, my home is in desperate need of new decorations.
Our homes don’t have to be Pinterest perfect. I am going to share a secret with you. The decorations in my dining room have been there since I got married. In 2003. They are Americana and if you take them off the wall I can promise you there will be an imprint left behind.
But, I yell too much…
Me too! But, take that feeling that you feel after and channel it into something else. Read unglued, breathe; learn to handle your emotions in a different way. You are a great mom, and every change we make is a change for the better. And, in the mean time…it is imperfect progress.
I gave my kids corn dogs for dinner….again!
Listen, it is okay. A corn dog contains 2 of the 5 food groups (bread and meat)… throw in some veggies and a fruit and you have a four course meal 😉
In a world that tells us we need to do more, more, more, we need to remember that we are enough! We don’t need a Pinterest perfect home, or family to be perfect. We are HIS masterpiece we are doing His work as a mom, and that is enough. Everything else is just a bonus!
