Family Staycation Ideas

It is vacation season, and many families are hitting the road for a week of fun and relaxation. BUT, for many other families, a vacation is not in the cards. So, for those who may not be able to take a family vacation, what should you do?   I suggest trying a staycation this year!  Make this the best summer ever!

Have a Family Staycation - 5 Ideas to make this summer the best ever

A staycation is a vacation in your own backyard. Staycations  are more than just a week spent at home; it is a planned time of relaxation and fun for the whole family. There are plenty of things to do during your staycation no matter where you live.

Here are a few staycation ideas for your family to consider!

Make Time for Something New

Is there something you and your family have never done before, but always wanted to try? Maybe something one of the kids have begged to do, but mom and dad weren’t quite willing to give it a shot? Staycations are the perfect time to give it a try. Ideas include, paintballing, geocaching, laser tag and more!

Family Activities

I don’t know about you, but there are usually activities my kids enjoy doing, that we don’t have time for. Why not pencil some of those in during your staycation? Ideas include, putt putt golf, bowling, movie theatre, and more!

Get Outside!

Spending time outside is a great way to enjoy time together as a family. There are many things to do while enjoying the great outdoors. Why not try hiking, back yard camping, fishing, or another outdoor adventure!

Get to Know Your Town

Chances are there are things in your own neighborhood that you have wanted to do, but never done. Or things that people come into town to see, that you have never made time for. Rare shops, restaurants, parks and more can be found in your city if you just take the time to look!

Take a Day Trip

What attractions can you visit that are within a few hours of your home? Look up attractions that can be reached in a day online, or by talking to friends and family. Ideas include a water park, zoo, aquarium, or amusement park!

Staycations are a great alternative to an out of town family vacation.    They allow you to visit things you may never have seen, and do things you may never have otherwise done. They give you the opportunity to get away without leaving the comfort of your own home each night. This year, if you can’t take an out of town vacation, consider one of these staycation ideas instead. Before you know it you and your family will be enjoying a relaxing staycation!
