Hi friends, welcome back to my confessions series.
Are you finding yourself looking for a way to bring more joy into your life this holiday season?
I am currently on a journey to find and bring more joy into my home, heart, and family. Join me?
When I first sat out on this journey of Peace, Joy, and Love for the season I knew that the enemy would meet me at every turn. Isn’t that how it goes?
We start doing good work for our Lord and to serve our families and the enemy cannot stand it. Instead he roars around and finds our weeks spots. Once he has found them he digs in with both hands and tries to divide us from our purpose.
It is a hard fight, the one we fight for what is right.
As we are turning our focus from Peace to Joy I am noticing more and more that the Joy that I am seeking is fleeting.
What do we do now?
No matter how hard I work toward finding joy, it is just not working. Then I had a long hard chat with my bestie, the one who is running this series with me.
She reminded me that “Joy is not something that man can create for themselves. Instead Joy is found only in the Lord.”
Have I been spending time with the Lord? Not like I should.
Have I been praying? Not like I should.
Have I been reading scriptures or using the workbook for this series? No, not really.
If I am not seeking the Lord each day in the hardness, how am I going to find Joy?
Truth is, apart from Christ there is no peace, joy, or love. When I start looking toward others to fill the holes in my heart I am turning my back on the one who has the answers.
While I am on this journey of finding joy, I now know that I have to find a different direction. I must start and end my day with the One who gave it to me. I must give all my cares, worries, and burdens to him. When I carry them myself there is no room for the goodness he has offered me.
I am praying that this new perspective is not only an enlightening moment for me but one for you as well.
How are you finding joy? Are you looking inwardly or to our savior?
Are you looking for a devotional and group to celebrate with this season?
