Growing up we never really had family dinners. We would eat in shifts to fill our busy schedules. I would come in later than my brothers and my step-dad normally came in later than me. I don’t remember many week night dinners that consisted of sitting around the table.
Now that I am grown and have a family of my own, we make this a nightly event. Each night we sit around the table and have a meal. Actually, we do this about 3 times a day since we are home for most meals. Granted the hubs isn’t here, it is still important to me that the kiddos and I sit at the table and enjoy conversation and food together. I pray this is something they will carry over into their adulthood.
