Dear Lonely Mom,
I understand how you feel. Though you are surrounded by little ones all day, busy teaching school and cleaning house you still feel just as lonely as you would if the house was empty. You try to reach out to others and yet you realize that between trying to coordinating schedules and balancing other duties that really it is just to much work to leave. Going to the grocery store becomes somewhat a treat because there is adults there strolling the isles. Sadly you can’t talk to them because they are to busy to even notice you unless your kid starts throwing another tantrum in isle 6.
You longed to be a stay at home mom. You even begged to be a stay at home mom, so you don’t dare say anything about that lonely feeling that you have deep inside for fear that your husband just wouldn’t understand. How could he after all he has his work friends? He is able to engage in adult conversation. By the time he gets home he is all talked out and well you are pretty sure he is not listening to your rambles because well he stopped saying real words 20 mins ago and is now bobbing his head. As a matter of fact you are pretty sure he hasn’t even noticed that you put on make-up and did your hair. (He noticed he just didn’t think to say anything because well men often don’t feel the need to say things about stuff like that)
You start to wonder in your lonely state if there is something wrong with you. I mean should you not be happy because you are home with your children? After all, it wasn’t that long ago that you were that working mom who thought stay at home moms had it so easy. Now you are understanding why to many stay at home moms are looking so stressed. You are quickly realizing that both working moms and stay at home moms face unfaltering challenges.
You begin to feel that you are the only one that feels this way
Dear sweet lonely stay at home mom, you are not alone.
If moms were to be honest about their feelings you would find that a lot of them feel this way. In fact they feel like this often. Yet, they hid it for fear that they will be judged by all their other mommy friends. You know those ones you can’t get your schedule to coordinate with.
Just hold on mom….
This season will be over soon…..
Continue to reach out to others…..
Break the trend call that mommy friend and tell her how you feel…….
Pray for comfort…….
Cling to God’s Word……..
One of the worst things we can do is to hold our lonely feelings in. Instead of putting on that fake smile – allow yourself to be honest with yourself and other. It is perfectly normal to be lonely. It is perfectly normal to have days when you are not happy. However it is not healthy to not reach out and keep trying.
Dear Lonely Mom, know that I am thinking of you. I am praying for you and I am here to cheer you on. I encourage you to share this post so that other lonely moms know that they are not alone.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4, Him,
