It is still too chilly out to really call the weather we are having spring. Unfortunately.
My kids have cabin fever in the worst way and are more than ready to get out and ride their scooters and bikes.
So, March hasn’t brought us warm weather, I thought we could at least have spring inside. My kids had so much fun making this mobile.
I cut the pieces out, but let them glue it together. It is super easy to prepare and assemble and really brightens up their bedroom. They are completely mesmerized by how the pieces float around.
And of course, its extra special that it’s their art work.
Here is what you need:
1 Rainbow shape cut out of cardboard
2 Rainbow shapes cut out of white paper to glue on either side of the cardboard
1 Flower shape cut out of red or orange paper
2 Yellow circle flower centers
2 Green leaves
2 Blue rain drops
2-4 cotton balls for clouds
4 pieces of colorful yarn
A stapeler
Glue
First, have your child color a rainbow on both white rainbow cut outs. My children are quite little, so I gave them colored pencils in the rainbow colors and just let the color however they wanted.
Its important to remember that it’s not the outcome of the art project that is important as much as the process.
After they have finished with their rainbows, have them glue them on either side of the cardboard cut out, placing the yarn in between the paper and cardboard in the appropriate places.
While the rainbow is drying, have them color and assemble the flower. The attach the flower in the center with the rain drops on either side.
Another fun idea for the raindrops is having them paint sparkly glue all over the raindrops!
