“I can’t do it alone.”
Simple words that I cried out in prayer. In front of my husband and my heavenly Father. It was an honesty moment even for myself. I had been trying to do it myself – and I came to the breaking point.
I had been trying to do a lot on my own. I was working part time. Homeschoooling part time. Working on building an at home business. Cleaning. Cooking. Serving. Writing. And, going through an adoption. It had been two weeks since we had gotten the call that a birth mom had chosen us- two very long weeks. I had gone through so many emotions, and I am not an overly emotional person. The weekend had been long, and it seemed like nothing had gotten accomplished. My hand found my husbands before bed, and I asked if we could pray. I should have known that would be the breaking point.
Hand in hand, we prayed. We cried out to God. I cried – “I can’t do it alone anymore”.
It was than that I realized I didn’t have to. I never did.
I was choosing to.
How often as moms are we choosing to do this on our own? Without the help of the Lord- or our Husband? We feel like we have to be the strong one for everyone. Yet, God doesn’t want us to be the strong one. He wants us to be weak – so that HE can be strong. So that He can get the glory.
Our husbands don’t want us to do it alone. They want us to lean on them. They want to know the places that we are hurting and that we are need them.
Our kids don’t want us to do it alone. We can be honest with them and let them know we are having a rough time. They don’t need the dirty details – but they can know we are struggling.
Mama, you don’t have to walk this alone. Whatever it is, you don’t have to. You can tell your kids that things are rough. You can lean in to the physical strength of your husband. If you don’t feel like you can do those two things- you can lean in the One who loves you more. He is strong enough – and you can’t break Him.
