When we are sitting knee deep, going through the motions of life, we may have a hard time admitting what is really going on in our lives. With a closer look you may realize that what you are dealing with is so much more than sadness, you may be dealing with depression.
Don’t feel like you are alone.
Do you know that depression affects approximately 1.5 percent of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year. (about 3.3 million American adults). What a terribly sad statistic.
Sadly, I can count myself among the number represented above.
It is true! I have dealt with depression since I was a young teenager.
Now that I am a mother I see the importance of keeping my emotional state in control more than ever before.
We all know that saying “When mama ain’t happy, no body is happy.” It rings true with depression.
Why? Because our children and husbands feel the direct effects of our emotional well being.
If you are dealing with this terrible condition, can I help offer some encouraging scripture? These words are taken right from the Bible. That means that they are God’s living, breathing word.
Scripture for Moms Battling Depression…
Psalm 3:3 – But you, Lord are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
Palm 126:5 – Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.
Psalm 43:5 – Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God.
Mark 9:23 – Everything is possible for him who believes.
Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 12:25 – Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down (depression), but a good word cheers it up.
2 Samuel 22:29 – You are my lamp O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.
1 Peter 5:6-7 – 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s almighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Deuteronomy 31:8 – The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 33:27 – The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Do you need more encouragement?
I have created scripture cards, designed to fit in your pocket on a clip ring.
It is my sincere prayer that this tool helps bring your heart some peace. That you use these cards to bring yourself closer to The One who created you. May you renew your strength and find your joy again, a Joy that only our Heavenly Father can bring.
There are many ways to use this tool. Print the cards off, cut them apart, and tape them around your home as a constant reminder. Laminate the cards and keep them close at hand so you can see them when you are troubled. Go one step further and punch a hole in the laminated cards and attach them together with a jump ring. This allows you to throw them in your bag and carry them with you wherever you go.
